Tiger in Nature

Tiger in Nature: ~the making of~

This piece took me two months to make working four to five hours a day six days a week. A lot of detail…just wanted to get that tiger really feeling alive and fierce and present. The eyes, for example, they don’t sell pieces like that in the eyes. It was taking pieces and grinding something out from behind and using some black nail polish type paint to put the pupils in. Putting in teeth his dentist could be proud of and again those long thin whiskers, a lot of work, a lot of grinding to make straight pieces that thin. Putting in ‘like contrast’; the tree, the tiger’s tail in front of the tree, getting in jungle grasses, and maybe some colorful and interesting stones, and hills and mountain in the background and then choosing the sky pieces as well as part of the detail to really making an interesting pallet of colors.
"Your work with glass is spectacular. Your pieces include so much detail that the subject nearly jumps to life. Thank you for sharing your work and the brief description of how it is accomplished. I look forward to working with you."
